Transitioning time

17 Mar

Yesterday’s goal of job searching was successfully accomplished. I have an interview this afternoon!

Okay, so I might be stretching the truth just a little. I applied for a job a few weeks ago, and funny enough, they just happened to call me as I was in the middle of posting and sending resumes yesterday afternoon. I will be interviewing for a temporary position; if I am to get the job, it will just be for the summer. However, I know that interview experiences are always valuable, and if I am chosen for the position, I know it will be a great experience, especially as I transition from college into the “working world”.  And who knows where it could lead?

The person on the phone told me that the position requires me to be comfortable speaking in front of crowds, but do you think singing during an interview, for the purpose of demonstrating that quality, would be taking the job description too far?

Just kidding ;)…there will definitely be no singing during the interview process.

Now, on the drive to and from..that’s a different story :).

Good luck on your interview! My professor told my class some really good advice for interviews last night…the interview is about the company and what you can do for them, not about you and your skills alone! She said to research as much as you can about the company and ask questions like what they are looking for and then use your skills to fulfill what they’re looking for instead of just listing off your skills. Don’t know if that’s really obvious but I thought it was good advice! Or you could also sing=)

Alright!! Congrats on the interview. Good luck! Be confident in what you can bring and do for the company, be sincere, and show your interest… those things always helped for me. And having a few questions ready to ask the interviewers at the end can be very good too. How exciting!!

That is WONDERFUL news!!! Sending out good interview vibes to you. 🙂 I’ve had so many friends get interviews recently and it’s giving me such hope. I agree that even though it’s temporary, you never know where it would lead! My last job was temporary and I ended up being there for 5.5 years. 🙂
