Making the morning productive

22 Mar

My boss is on vacation right now, so she decided to give me, and the other intern,  a day off. Since I worked several hours from home over spring break, I’m not complaining. Unlike last Tuesday, I made it a point to make today productive. I may or may not still be in my pajamas, but if the answer’s not the latter, I have a good reason for it :).

It is now noon, and I have done the dishes, loaded and ran the dishwasher, put in my fourth load of laundry (two of those were sheets and towels, but I kind of neglected to wash any clothes over break…), changed my sheets, and dusted and vacuumed my room. Productive, right :)?

As I was dusting off my desk and trying to make it look more organized, I kind of began to wonder why I even have it.

As much as I would like to blog and do homework at my desk, you know, making it all official and everything,  most 100% of the time, I end up working from the comfort of my bed. It’s not that I’m actually in bed, I just sit on my bed. It’s much more comfy than my desk chair. Obviously, I can’t get rid of my desk though, since it’s a storage area for my books, papers, and picture frames :). At the same time, it’s kind of a waste of space and just one more thing that I have to clean.

Anyway…I plan to do a quick pilates session before I head to the doctor to figure out what’s up with my tummy troubles. I’m not a big fan of going to the doctor, especially when it’s a new doctor, and in this case, “the female doctor”, if you know what I mean. I need to get to the root of this problem though, and if I need second or third opinions, I’m going to have to suffer the slight embarrassment of wearing a paper thin gown and going through all of those random introductory questions again (sigh). Sidenote: When I went to the gynecologist for the first time my freshmen year, with the same issues that I’m having now, they asked me if I drank (I was 18). I said “no”, which was a completely honest answer, and they didn’t believe me. They almost went to get my mom, who was in the waiting room, to ask her. After that experience, those long questionnaires just annoy me.

Well, I am off to do my pilates DVD. And Colleen has inspired me to do a vlog post, so be on the lookout for that soon!

Do you work and/or study at a desk?

Have you had good experiences at the doctor’s office?

I used to always to do homework on my bed, but now my dorm room is a loft (so the bed is up a few steep stairs), which makes it a bit easier to actually sit at my desk:)

Good luck at the doctor’s! I know those appts. are no fun…. I have one in a few weeks and have to get a biopsy, but I LOVE my doctor. If you don’t like yours, you should switch to mine! He is the nicest person EVER.

Thank you! Even though I was nervous, everything went okay. The doctor ended up being really nice. If I have any problems in the future though, I’ll get your doctor’s info 🙂

I don’t even have a desk, I do all my study/work at school or at my boyfriend’s house at their kitchen table. People leave me alone there to do it.
I try to avoid the doctors at all costs I hate them. They always make me feel uncomfortable, and don’t try to make me feel comfortable. I guess that I haven’t found the right doctor for me.
I hope everything turns out well for you!! 🙂

I’m sitting at my desk right now:) I use mine a lot actually but not usually for homework, instead I head to the coffee table in the living room and spread all the homework out, I need more area! ON my first trip to the gyno, my mom’s who happens to be a male, he talked, in a slightly condescending way, to me about a whole bunch of “stuff” and when he left the room I started balling… I was not comfortable with a man at all! I did have to see him once more before starting to go to the gyno at my school. I had actually made an appointment with the other gyno in his office, a woman, but of course she had to rush to the hospital to deliver a baby. I’ve liked both doctors I’ve seen here at school though! Hope they can help you:)

I’m sorry you had a bad experience the first time…it is really awkward, and honestly, I felt like crying, too. She was helpful, thank you!

YAYY! I can’t wait for your vlog post! I’m with you on the desk – I never sit at mine! I’m either at my table, on my bed or on my couch. My desk is just a huge shelf in my life 🙂
