Why I Like Fall

8 Sep

When it comes to my opinion of the fall season, I have realized that I am outnumbered. After thinking about it a little bit more, I can see why you guys enjoy it so much. The truth is, I probably wouldn’t appreciate summer so much if it weren’t for the three other seasons, and I do have plenty of reasons to be thankful for fall. I also realize that I should probably get myself in the right mindset, because ready or not, it is on its way. Here’s what I enjoy most about the upcoming season…

1. The Smell

Do you ever hear yourself saying, “Oh, it smells like a fall day today!”? Sara reminded me of how much I enjoy the smell and feeling of fall. It’s funny how our sense of smell let’s us know when the season will be changing.

2. Pumpkin Spice Lattes

I know everyone (and their sisters..and their mothers…) have been discussing the pumpkin spice latte, since Starbucks brought it back on Tuesday. I don’t always like to follow the crowd, but this latte is definitely worth jumping on the bandwagon for. It is just so. darn. good.

3. Pumpkin Patches

There’s something so refreshing about going to the pumpkin patch. I think it brings out of the kid in all of us. I’m not sure I’ll have time to go this year since I’m in two October weddings, but I’m sure going to try. Last year, Jordan and I made a spontaneous trip on the way home from running walking a 5K (I had been sick, so the running thing didn’t happen). If we made it happen last year, we can make it happen this year.

3. Better Running Weather

I’m not much of a runner. Not because I can’t do it, but because I don’t enjoy doing it. For some reason, this always changes in the fall. Without the humidity and intense heat bearing down on my lungs (not to mention, a lot less freshly cut grass, which I am allergic to), running outside becomes much more enjoyable. For the past four years or so, I have ran (or in last year’s case, walked) a 5K or 10K. I haven’t signed up for one yet, but I plan to do so in the very near future. I told Colleen, just this morning; she has inspired me :).

4. Pumpkin…everything

I mentioned the lattes and the patches, but, I love anything pumpkin. Pumpkin oatmeal, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin bread. Pumpkin straight from the can. Yes, I went there. I could eat a can of pumpkin for lunch and be a happy girl. I’m sure my consistency-of-baby food-lunch would make me really popular amongst my co-workers ;).

5. Perfect Cuddle Weather

Okay, so I don’t think I’ve ever actually said ”perfect cuddle weather,” but a chilly, windy, drizzly day is the perfect excuse to put on comfy sweats, curl up under a big blanket, and pop in a movie. AKA, ”I’m will not do anything productive today” weather.

6. Baking season

I love to bake. However, baking in front of a hot oven is not ideal when it’s 1oo+ degrees outside. Cooler temps mean that I can now make use of last year’s Christmas gift and this gadget that I recently purchased at a Pampered Chef party. Watch out office lounge, you may be seeing some treats in the near future :).

Okay, so you got me. The more I think about, the more I realize that I enjoy fall. I could keep going, but Jordan is picking me up for dinner (and I’m not ready yet). Mexican food is on our agenda tonight. Another good thing about fall- spicy Mexican food. It never gets old when it’s chilly outside (not like it does in the summer either…).

Enjoy your evening, blog friends!

Name three things you love most about fall.

Do you like Mexican food as much as I do? I never get tired of it. Ever.

I adore the cooler weather, pumpkin everything and being able to wear hoodies since we lack seasons over here.

And Mexican food is a way of life over here. That may be an understatement. If you’re ever around, you’ll see what I mean. I crave burritos more often than any other food out there!

Fall might be one of my favorite seasons. I love the way the leaves change and the wind and cool weather rolls in. I love fall outfits that I can accessorize with boots and scarves. I love bonfires and hot chocolate that come along with the cool weather. I just love it 🙂

    #1 – My birthday. I’m shameless 😛
#2 – High school football. Not that I really go to game anymore since I’m in college…but I still like the concept. Maybe change that to football in general, because I do enjoy some lazy Saturday afternoons in front of the TV.
    #3 – Hoodies. Love ❤
