Like the Day After Christmas

24 Oct

I got home from my friend Kelli’s wedding yesterday afternoon. To say that I was am exhausted is an understatement. I napped for an hour and a half when I got home, but I’m pretty sure I could’ve slept through the night.

Exhaustion was a sign of a good weekend though. I had so much fun! I didn’t take too many photos, and I didn’t even think about blogging (a break from the computer was much needed), but I’ll give you some highlights.

We arrived in the small town where the wedding took place late in the morning on Friday, just in time to take a look at the reception hall and have some lunch. Kelli’s dad was so sweet and took us all out a to cute little restaurant in the center of town. It kind of reminded me of Stars Hollow (“Gilmore Girls,” anyone?). I had one of the best Greek salads I’ve ever eaten. Mixed greens, feta cheese, olives, tomatoes and peppers…yum. I didn’t take a picture, so you’ll have to trust my word. After lunch, we did some more running around for the wedding day, and then it was back to the hotel to get ready for the rehearsal dinner.

The rehearsal dinner was really cozy and family oriented, at Kelli’s parent’s house. My friend and another bridesmaid, Lindley, and I took advantage of the nice weather and got in a photo before we went inside. The rest of the night was a whirlwind that included dinner, the rehearsal, and homemade ice cream for dessert.

Before we knew it, it was Saturday- wedding day! I know Kelli was picking me up from the hotel a little before 10:00, so I had some time to sleep in and get in a quick session at the hotel gym.  After a shower and some breakfast, the girls swung by to get me for our hair appointments.

Kelli’s turned out beautifully. After hair, we went to the matron of honor’s house to eat lunch, do our makeup and get dressed.

Kelli’s aunt made her dress from pieces of her mom’s dress. It turned out so well and she looked so pretty in it!

While we were getting dressed, the party bus arrived to take us to the church.

Dress look familiar? I wore the same one for Lauren’s wedding, two weeks ago! I got really lucky- both Kelli and Lauren chose the same color dress from the same bridal store. Since Kelli let us choose our own styles, all I had to do was have it shortened for her wedding!

When we arrived at the church, we took some photos. Then it was time for the ceremony to begin. It took place in the cutest little white church on top of a hill, basically in the middle of nowhere. I loved the quaint feeling.

A little chilly outside!

More photos were taken after the ceremony, and then we were back in the party bus and on our way to the reception. The reception was really fun, and Kelli’s family was super friendly. If I wasn’t already on the dance floor,  people were pulling me onto it. I’m pretty sure Lindley and I danced with Kelli’s  (6 or 7-year-old) cousin for a good hour or so :).

Jordan and I both enjoyed ourselves, but the busy day also left me feeling tired. I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow that night.

Now, I kind of have that day after Christmas feeling. I’m happy that my cousin and friend are both happily married, but I’m sad that the weddings are all over with. This month went by so quickly!

I will be back tomorrow with the recipe that I left you hanging with last week, because right now I’m going to wind down with a recorded episode of “Sister Wives” before I go to bed.

Enjoy your night :).

Have you ever had that day after Christmas feeling for an occasion other than Christmas?

What’s your favorite part of a wedding?
