Chobani, Please

8 Mar

About a year ago, I was introduced to Chobani by my grandma, who buys it in bulk at Costco. Yep, she’s very with the times :).

I believe I tried the strawberry first, and let me tell you, it was love at first bite. Needless to say, when this pretty package arrived on my porch about a month ago, I was more than excited to dig in.

The lovely people at Chobani sent me a box of twelve different Chobani flavors, some which I had tried, some which I had not. Since I accidentally sliced into two of the yogurts, lemon and pineapple, as I was cutting open the box (oops), I had to eat them right away. I ate the lemon, and gave the pineapple to my mom. The lemon gets two thumbs up from me — very creamy, light and tart, but still sweet. It’d be perfect for a summer dessert, especially if frozen! My mom said she liked the pineapple, but since I didn’t try it, I just have to take her word for it!

As the days went on, I slowly worked my way through the dozen. And when I say slowly, I mean I was averaging at least one yogurt per day — not too different from my regular yogurt-eating habits though. Chobani is one of my favorite go-to afternoon snacks at work, and the perfect breakfast when I’m in a pinch for time.

Although it’s great eaten straight from the container, I love topping it with some granola for some crunch, as I did with the black cherry yogurt above, or mixing plain Chobani into a savory dish, as I did with my chicken salad sandwich below.

The best part about Chobani, though, is its nutritional facts. One cup of yogurt averages 140 calories, and has 14 grams of protein, 20% of a day’s worth of calcium, and three types of probiotics! Though some flavors, like peach, strawberry and blueberry, have nearly 20 grams of sugar, I feel that the nutrients make up for it. Plus, if you’re really worried about your sugar intake, plain Chobani only has 7 grams of sugar, and vanilla has 13 grams.

When working my way through my box of Chobani, I learned to love a new flavor-mango!

Mango is the first low-fat Chobani (vs. the non-fat variety) that I’ve tried, and I must say, it’s totally worth the 20 extra calories (I’ll probably burn that off walking to the fridge anyway ;)).

Sadly, my yogurt is gone now, which means I need to stock up asap. One thing’s for sure…whenever I buy Greek yogurt, I stick to one brand and one brand only- Chobani (please)!

Do you eat Chobani?

What’s your favorite flavor?

In exchange for this review, I received samples from Chobani. All opinions are my own.

My favorite flavour is vanilla by far! I love that your grandma buys it from Cosco! Too funny. I buy it in bulk at my house as well. 🙂

Love Chobani! Pomegranate and the new blood orange flavor are my favorites, but I’m pretty much love them all. I usually top sweet potatoes with just the plain flavor, but last night, I put half of a pineapple container on a sweet potato, and it was fabulous. I’m not too worried about the high sugar content because I know most of the sugar comes from the milk and real fruit.

Mmm I love Chobani. I’ve tried a few different brands of Greek yogurt, and Chobani is my favorite. I like the pineapple and strawberry ones a lot. Very useful for eating granola in a more socially acceptable manner (i.e.: not by the handful, which is my normal method haha).

Haha, I’ve been there. I currently have a bag in my car, and last week I straight from it for an after work snack. Oops…
