Friday Things

29 Jun

1. I have not seen Jordan since last Sunday. To say that our lives are busy would be an understatement. I miss him, and I’m so excited to spend tomorrow night celebrating his birthday, one day early, at this place

2. My cousin is traveling to one of the greatest places on Earth today. I’m excited for her, but also a little sad that I’m not going.

We used to take vacations there every year when we were younger, and we made so many good memories. Eat some taco pizza and Kilwin’s ice cream for me, Lauren!

3. It’s official. At 1:00 on Sunday afternoon, we will be apartment renters! Now I just have to make sure that Jordan doesn’t do anything too crazy at his bachelor party on Saturday, since he’ll have to be all ready to sign paperwork and move in come Sunday. We timed that out nicely, didn’t we ;)?

4. Yesterday, one of our five-year-old campers told me that I have “crazy hair.” Why yes, my messy bun does get even crazier when it’s 104 degrees and humid outside. Naturally, I felt a little self-conscious after that was said. Five-year-olds always speak the truth, and I don’t want to be known as “the crazy hair lady” — although I guess it could be worse. Even so, I might try wearing my hair down tomorrow.

5. Jello and crayons were my two worst enemies yesterday. I splattered melted crayons (craft project) on my white American Eagle tank top, and not-quite-set Jello (kids’ snack) on my light blue Nike running shorts. I was not a very happy camper. Who can find me something on Pinterest that will show me how to get those stains out :)?

6. Last night, I had a few minutes to sit on my porch (and do nothing) outside. I can’t remember the last time that I did that, and it makes me sad. In high school, my friends and I used to sit on the grass, look up at the stars, and talk for hours. I love how peaceful that feels  in the summertime and I hate how I don’t take more time to enjoy it. That needs to change.

7. It will be a miracle if I can finish Jordan’s birthday dessert before we leave for dinner tomorrow night, but I’m going to try —  I’ll just make it on Saturday. Either way, I am thinking about making these, or these. Who wants to help me decide?

Have a wonderful weekend!

Girl, that little boy probably meant the crazy hair comment as a compliment haha!! He probably thought it was cool!

Be proud of your hair. I wish mine had some more body, instead of being limp and never having ANY style. I tried getting a perm in 5th grade, and it turned straight the next day haha!

Confession – jello scares me. I hate that it dances when you shake the plate. yikes.

Oh the bachelor party— those scare me. My husband got a gun pulled on him at his and his only thought was “Oh no! If he shoots me, Julie will kill me!” ….Long story but he and all his friends made it out safe and sound! Thankfully!
I take comments from my kids to heart too! Your not alone, if they tell me my hair or make-up is out of sorts- it bothers me allllllll day long! I’m sure you looked great though- no worries!

Please do not get me started on truthful 5 year olds. My cousin who is newly 5 seems to be jealous that I am so close with his mommy. So he has decided he does not “yike” (like) me. I’ve recently been having a hard time struggling with adult acne and am very self conscious of it. He told me I was no pretty becasue people with pimples are ugly. And also said that they should, “sell me to the Spanish country so that I will not have to be with them anymore.” We have no idea where he got that idea but he said it very matter of factly. I’m hoping it’s just a stage becasue I am them a lot and even though he is so little and we usually laugh at it, it still hurts my feelings slightly.

Oh my goodness! I once had a girl ask about my pimples too, so I know how much that hurts! Hopefully he grows out of this stage!

I love Mackinac/Mackinaw! I was actually just talking about it yesterday with someone! I haven’t been up there in probably 12 years, but I’d love to go back. I’ve always been a huge history nerd, so Mackinac Island in particular is heavenly in my opinion (and of course, the fudge. ‘Nuff said.)
